What is the SV-Meldeportal and what is the A1 certificate?

The SV-Meldeportal was launched on October 04, 2023. It is an online portal that enables companies and self-employed persons to manage various applications and certificates relating to social insurance online. Until June 30, 2024, sv.net/standard and sv.net/comfort could also be used for applications.

The A1 certificate is a special document that is required for business trips abroad. It confirms that you are still subject to the social security laws of your home country, even if you work abroad temporarily.

Do I need a company number for the SV-Meldeportal?

The answer depends on whether you are an employer or self-employed person. In both cases, employers need a company number, while self-employed people do not need a company number.

How to apply for your A1 certificate via sv-meldeportal.de

1. Registration for app.sv-meldeportal.de:
   The first step is to register on the SV-Meldeportal login page with your company details. Click on the “Register a new user” button and enter the required data. After you have clicked on the activation link in the email, you will receive your login details for the portal.
2. Login with your login details:
   Now log on to app.sv-meldeportal.de login page with your login details.
3. Fill out the form:
   In the “Forms” menu item, you will find the option “Application and Certification Procedure A1”. Click on it to go to the “Submitting A1 Request” form. Here, you must provide information about the company, the person, the country of employment and professional activity abroad. If required, you can also select the activity code using the free text search field.
4. Review and preview:
   After completing all fields, you can review your information under “Review and Preview.” The system detects missing fields or incorrect information and notifies you of this.
5. Submitting the request:
   Click on “Send” to send your application to the health insurance company or the relevant social security institution.
6. Retrieve the A1 certificate in your mailbox:
   In the next few days, you should check your app.sv-meldeportal.de mailbox to download and print out your A1 certificate as a PDF. Your submitted requests can be found under “Sent Items”. Please note that for data protection reasons, the A1 certificate can only be retrieved once at app.sv-meldeportal.de and is then deleted from the server.

Conversion of sv.net to the SV-Meldeportal

From January 1, 2024, the previous applications sv.net/standard and sv.net/comfort will be completely replaced by the new SV-Meldeportal. The SV-Meldeportal is a web-based platform that enables the transmission of notifications and applications to the social insurance institutions.

The changeover enables users to transfer existing data to the new system and continue to submit various types of reports digitally. More detailed information on the changeover is available to users at sv-meldeportal.de.
